Some days having a ‘Dozer, is a very comforting thing. It means there are always surprises, but you don’t have to touch those surprises, well, not if you don’t want to. I’m talking about The ’Dozer telling me to put my gumboots on as there was something I’d want to see in my Greenhouse. Out I go, wondering what it could possibly be, and he holds my hand and asks me to look. He tells me that if I just look, I’ll see it, as he doesn’t want to give the surprise away.
Suddenly I see it and jump back, very thankful of his hand and wanting to put distance between myself and my discovery. On second glance though, I realise it isn’t a snake, but in fact my visitor had left me it’s ‘coat of many scales’ .
It really is pretty, though, don’t you think? Like some kind of microscopic life form or environment that Bugs would know all about. Or some kind of villainous bubble wrap, which you will pop at your own peril.
Luckily nothing bad happened when I did touch this snake skin, though I did leave it up to The ‘Dozer to extricate it from underneath the bathtub and lay it out on the ground so I could take a picture for you (I put a hammer beside it to give you an idea of it’s length), I hadn’t expected it, but Taj suddenly got ‘the jumps’ just like I did, when I first saw the skin. And Taj was quite convinced it was the real thing, and not a ghost-snake.
Here he is in mid-pounce, imagine him doing that, and add little nips at the skin and a few barks for reassurance. I was feeling a bit that way myself.
Bloomin’ bad weather, is what I say.
