We have a few local markets nearby, which operate at the weekends. They are a bit too touristy, but they can be a fun and different way to spend the morning. I don’t make it along to them often, but this time I did, and I remembered to bring along the camera.
There wasn’t much that caught my eye, and then rain started to fall quite heavily so we sought shelter. While waiting for the weather to ease, I spied this fishing sign. I wonder who thought it up? Very odd sense of humour there.

There’s no words to describe the devastation of the bush fires down South, but during the last two days the air here has carried an intense heat which puts you a little on edge, as you can feel the air is dry, tinder-y and gaseous (vapour being released from the trees). The heat was strong enough to shrivel the leaves of the plants in these baskets, a good watering and they revived without trouble. During the watering, the frogs took the opportunity to come out, cool down, and have and impromptu shower.
I didn’t want change this photo too much, because I want you to clearly see the droplets of water bouncing off the hanging basket. I really like their teardrop shape, and how they seem to be going in the wrong direction, away from the frog, not towards.

If you click on this link you can see a little video of one of these birds and even hear it’s chirpy-cheep-cheeps.

English Mum is setting us all a new challenge each week. And her first assignment is to photograph the contents of your fridge. But, I think it should become a new insult. Instead of ‘what’s got up yer nose?’, it could be ‘what’s got into your fridge?’. Hmm?
Kate graciously bestowed a wonderful Fabulousness Awardon my blog – Thank you Kate !
As a fun addition to the award, I am requested to discuss five addictions. Now, this is a tricky one to answer, as I find that the more addictive something is, the less likely you are to really be aware of your addiction.
But let’s see.
1) My first addiction is represented by this mosaic.

2) After many years of using an ancient, patched together, desktop, I have recently progressed to owning my first laptop. It is the absolute bee’s knees (to me). It’s so cute. It’s like a little flying saucer with flashing lights and all sorts of funny beeping noises. It is probably a bad thing to admit to, but I hate to turn the little thing off. Even if I’m not using it, I like to see it burbling away doing something for me. And after my old desktop, I am amazed that this little beauty can travel all around the place with me, and I can stay connected via wi fi.
3) A slightly connected addiction; this time it is msn. MSN Messenger keeps me so easily connected with my most important people, and helps me do my studies by giving me the ability to talk with my friends from class, which, I assure you, has been the best way to stave off (most of the) procrastination. I’m still amazed at being able to use my computer to make free calls and see people far away on their webcams. The down side to this is internet-connected-talking-burn out. It isn’t quite the case of it being too much of a good thing, but there is the whole challenge of the ettiqute of chatting, and while msn is a good substitute for in-person interacting, it is too easy to over do it, and yet, so hard to keep away from it.
4) Number fourth addiction, is this creature right here….if I have him sitting on my feet, and my laptop nearby, I’m set.

5) My fifth addiction is study. I have a thirst for learning and for studying. I’ve taken a huge array of subjects and yet, there’s always so much I want to know about and be able to do.
[Edit: I just realised I forgot to post the credit details for the Flickr photos I've used. And honest over-sight, and if I can find them again, I will fix it up.]

Poor Herme’s had an accident.
Can you imagine it, but he has backed his bum into my neighbour’s kitchen window. It wouldn’t have been easy, he must have backed up slowly and had a good aim, as his bum is ok. A few scratches but nothing serious. The window, on the other hand, is completely nagged? Horsed? Bummed?
