Rocket Hats are Go!

2 Sep

The ‘Dozer’s hat is finished, and almost completely sewn up. But, disaster struck in the form of decoration.

You see, I was looking at his hat and decided it needed a little-somethin’-somethin’, and wanted to decorate the crown, so I began a bit of Greek edge embroidery. And it looked bad.

Admitting defeat, I cast it aside – so that I can look at it with fresh eyes  – and checked the old blog here; finding English Mum had taken a shine to my green hat, and might like one for her winter walks with Bert, I set to work whipping her up a funky Rocket Hat.

I’ve a soft spot for English Mum and so found it easy to use my favourite wool for her, and her keeness for pinkness. Nothing else would do, as her last blog banner was pure rock chick. But her blog’s new incarnation is quite angelic and demure looking. So, fingers crossed: here’s hoping she and her young men will still enjoy my punk over-tones (I have a bit of a thing for the punk aesthetic, and secretly wouldn’t mind sporting a fakey mowhawk. Hmm, maybe I could knit one?).

Anyway, I better not put off rescuing my brother’s birthday hat any longer.. where’s the scissors?

Ha ha ha, Kate’s on to me. I have some lovely pale pink and soft purple wool, that would make a delightfully soothing rocket hat. But, I just can’t imagine you’d have the weather for a rocket hat, Moon? Would one come in handy when you’re golfing perhaps?

English Mum, I put a congratulations comment on your blog, but it does seem to be there. Anyway, I tried to say that it’s wonderful news, you must be excited, and I think your Husband’s a keeper. xxx

English Mum is pretty special. And is part of a pretty spiffy family. Will Bugs want a rocket hat too? :) Moody, ha ha ha ! English Mum, I’ve never known a blog to say that to anyone before. I think I’ve managed to let people comment without moderation now.. perhaps that will help.
